Having said that, Jared jabbed a finger forward. There was a flash of spiritual light before Riehl felt severe pain in both arms, subsequently losing all sensation from them.
He slumped to the ground, his eyes filled with both fear and relief. He knew he deserved this, yet he was grateful to Jared for sparing his life. His hands were useless now, but they might recover in a decade or so. But if his life was taken, that would be forever!
“Thank you, Mr. Chance”
Riehl, despite his immense pain, was also overcome with joy. From somewhere, he found the strength to suddenly stand and run toward the distance. He was afraid that Jared might change his mind and kill him!
After Riehl had left, Jared turned his attention to Teegan!
Teegan shuddered. However, seeing Riehl spared after offering his magical items, he thought that he, too, could escape death by begging on his knees and presenting his own magical items.
As a son of the Buckley family, he felt that his reputation was more crucial than life itself.
However, everyone was either dead or injured right now. Even if he knelt down to beg Jared for mercy, no one would know.
At that moment, begging for mercy was the wisest choice. As the saying goes, a wise man submits to circumstances!
“Mr. Chance, spare me! Please spare me!”
After realizing his situation, Teegan immediately fell to his knees and begged for mercy.
Seeing as Riehl, despite his hands being rendered useless, had ultimately managed to hold onto his life, a glimmer of hope ignited within Teegan’s heart.
He was kneeling on the ground, repeatedly bowing his head in submission. The arrogance and ruthlessness once evident on his face had long been replaced by fear.
“Mr. Chance, I’m willing to give you everything I have, just spare my life. Look, this is my item pouch, filled with magical items I’ve collected over the years. If you promise not to kill me, it’s all yours!”
Teegan, trembling, held his item pouch aloft, as if it were his only lifeline.
However, Jared merely gazed at him coldly, with not a shred of pity in his eyes.
He spoke slowly, his voice deep and powerful.
“Teegan, do you really think your magical items could save your life?”
Upon hearing this, a look of bewilderment crossed Teegan’s face. He had assumed that Jared would treat him like Riehl – that if only he offered up his magical items, his life would be spared. However, Jared’s subsequent words left him feeling as if he had plunged into an icy pit.
“Why not?” Teegan was somewhat baffled!
“You really are clueless. Once I take your life, your magical items will naturally become mine anyway…”
Jared’s words were laced with a teasing tone.
Teegan’s face turned ashen in an instant. He couldn’t believe his own ears, let alone that Jared would do such a thing.
Was it not the norm to trade one’s life by offering up one’s magical items? Why was Jared suddenly being unpredictable?
Teegan wanted to beg for mercy once more, but despite opening his mouth, he couldn’t produce a single sound.
At that moment, Jared moved swiftly, appearing instantly before Teegan, and struck out with his palm.
The accompanying gust felt as sharp as a blade, carrying a chilling intent to kill, aimed directly at Teegan’s vital point.
“I just want you to understand,” Jared’s voice echoed in Teegan’s ear, chilling as a death sentence, “I’m not someone you can afford to offend. In my eyes, your Buckley family is worth nothing.”
Teegan only felt a powerful force engulfing him. He wanted to dodge, but it was too late. That strike, like a mountain collapsing, landed heavily on his chest.
With a thunderous bang, Teegan’s body flew backward like a kite with its string cut, landing heavily on the ground.
His chest had caved in, with blood gushing out profusely, staining the surrounding ground a deep crimson.
His eyes were wide, his face filled with disbelief and resentment. It seemed he was still wondering why Jared could be so heartless and why he wasn’t given a chance to survive.
“You… you…” Teegan opened his mouth, barely managing to utter those words before his head tilted to the side, and he stopped breathing.
Jared stood still, staring at Teegan’s lifeless body, his eyes devoid of any flicker of emotion.
