“Emperor Lantz, this… I… this…”
Infinides was baffled. What exactly is Corrado up to?
“Abbot Infinides, the man we found for Lina is truly exceptional. Let’s hold the wedding today -you’ll be the officiant!” Corrado said enthusiastically.
“Ahem…” Jared cleared his throat. “Emperor Lantz, let’s discuss the wedding later. I still have many things to take care of.”
He couldn’t marry Catalina just yet. He had promised Josephine that their wedding would be the first.
Of course, dual cultivation was possible.
“Fine, we’ll talk about the wedding later. For now, you and Lina can spend some time together.”
Corrado didn’t dare go against Jared’s wishes, so he followed his lead.
Catalina, Fraser, and Infinides were all dumbfounded. Since when had Corrado become this agreeable?
Just then, Dorian’s furious voice rang through the hall. “Father! I heard Jared was captured. Don’t kill him just yet! Let me have my turn first.
I won’t rest until I’ve taught him a lesson!”
When he heard that Fraser had brought Jared back, he had immediately broken out of solitary confinement.
Jared had humiliated him, leaving him utterly disgraced. Now that Jared was in Twilight Imperial City-on his turf-there was no way Dorian would let this chance for revenge slip away.
Dorian barely acknowledged the others in the hall. His eyes locked onto Jared, and he charged forward.
“You arrogant brat! Let’s see how tough you are now! I’m going to make you wish you were dead!”
As he spoke, he swung a fierce punch straight at Jared.
“Insolent child! How dare you!”
Corrado’s face turned pale. In an instant, he leaped into the air and struck Dorian.
The force sent Dorian flying. He crashed into a stone pillar, blood spurting from his mouth.
“Father, you….”
Dorian lay on the ground, staring at Corrado in utter disbelief.
Fraser and Catalina were just as stunned. Even though they didn’t particularly like their older brother, they had never seen their father strike him so harshly before.
“You reckless fool! I ordered you to reflect on your actions, and you dared escape? That alone is an offense! And now, you even dared to attack your brother-in-law! Do you have any idea what you’ve done? Jared is your little sister’s husband. Do you want to make Catalina a widow?” Corrado bellowed in fury.
Dorian was completely dumbfounded. Then, his face twisted in grievance. “Father, even if he is my Catalina’s husband, did you really have to hit me so hard? My ribs are broken!”
“Serves you right! Go back and reflect on your actions. If you dare lay a hand on Jared again, I will disown you!” Corrado snapped.
“Unfair! This is so unfair!” Dorian wailed.
He was convinced that his father had gone easy on Jared just because of Catalina. After all, everyone knew Catalina was Corrado’s favorite.
At that moment, Ravenna rushed in, panic written across her face. “Prince Dorian, please come with me!”
She then helped Dorian to his feet.
“Ravenna, keep a close watch on him. Do not let him leave confinement again. If he escapes one more time, I’ll hold you responsible!”
Corrado ordered sternly.
“Understood!” Ravenna nodded and helped Dorian out of the hall.
Catalina asked shyly, “Father, even if Jared is my husband, did you really have to be so hard on Dorian?”
As a member of the Lantz family, she had always been the most favored by her father.
“You don’t need to worry about it. Starting today, your confinement is lifted. Spend some time with Jared,” Corrado said matter-of-factly.
“Understood.” Catalina nodded.
With that, she, Fraser, and Jared left the main hall, while Infinides stayed behind, seemingly engaged in a private discussion with Corrado.
