“Jared, tell me honestly-did you do something to my father? He’s acting really strange today. In Twilight Imperial City, my father’s word is absolute. Yet today, he’s following your every command and treating you so well!”
As they stepped out of the main hall, Fraser looked at Jared in confusion.
“I think it’s strange too. Father dotes on me, but he’s never let me sit on the Dragon Throne. Yet today, you actually sat on it!”
Catalina also gazed at Jared with suspicion.
Jared chuckled. “Maybe my irresistible charm won him over?”
“Stop spouting nonsense.” Catalina rolled her eyes at him.
“How would I know? If you want answers, ask your father yourselves. I’d guess it’s just a case of him extending his love to me because of you.”
Of course, Jared couldn’t tell them that their father was now under his command.
“That’s possible. Father does love Catalina the most.” Fraser nodded thoughtfully.
“I was scared to death just now. Judging from what Fraser said, I thought Father was going to cripple you. I don’t want to be with a cripple!” Catalina shivered at the thought of how things had started.
“Relax, I’m always lucky.” Jared grinned.
“Jared, where are you planning to go next? Why don’t you stay at my place with Orion and the others for now?” Fraser asked.
“I’m going home, of course,” Jared replied.
“Home?” Fraser was puzzled.
“Obviously. I’m Catalina’s man now. Her mansion is my home, isn’t it?”
Jared casually wrapped an arm around Catalina’s shoulders.
“You are absolutely not staying at my mansion! It isn’t appropriate for unmarried couples to live under the same roof!” Catalina retorted shyly.
Jared teased with a smirk, “Okay then, I’ll just find another woman to stay with.”
“You dare?” Catalina shot him a fierce glare.
“Catalina is famous for being fierce. Jared, you’re in for it!” Fraser burst out laughing.
“Fraser, what are you saying? Who’s fierce? You need a beating!” Catalina replied.
She then raised her fist and lunged at Fraser.
Fraser swiftly dodged and ran off, laughing.
Just as Fraser disappeared, Infinides emerged from the main hall.
He asked, “Jared, what’s your next move? Will you stay in Twilight Imperial City to cultivate, or are you planning to continue your journey? If you choose to stay, the Tenth Hall wouldn’t dare cause you trouble.”
Jared shook his head. “I can’t stay in Twilight Imperial City for too long-I have too many things to take care of. As for the Tenth Hall, I intend to destroy them. Once they’re gone, the Demon Seal Alliance will collapse on its own. Without the Demon Seal Alliance, Demonic Cultivators in the Ethereal Realm will finally be able to live normal lives. Not all Demonic Cultivators are evil. Many of them never had a choice.”
At that moment, Jared recalled the kind old woman from Rock Village.
If not for her, he would have died long ago.
Hearing Jared’s words, Catalina expressed her admiration, “You’re right. Many Demonic Cultivators are just victims of circumstance. They don’t get to choose their origins. The real villains are the Demon Seal Alliance. They use
using the guise of exterminating demons to uphold justice. Yet, they seized numerous Demonic Cultivators to carry out their unspeakable deeds. My master has a compassionate heart. He has saved many Demonic Cultivators from them.”
“Abbot Infinides has rescued many Demonic Cultivators?” Jared was surprised.
“That’s right. I’ve been hiding them away, but lately, Twilight Imperial City’s resources have been running low. We can’t sustain them anymore. If we destroy the Tenth Hall and dismantle the Demon Seal Alliance, these Demonic Cultivators can return to the Ethereal Realm and start anew.”
After Infinides finished speaking, he gestured for Jared to follow. “Come with me.”
Jared, Catalina, and Infinides left the palace and headed toward a towering mountain.
