These devil beasts each had a unique appearance. Some were adorned with enormous wings, while others were covered in sharp spikes all over their bodies.
Their eyes radiated an eerie green glow, and they ceaselessly spewed black flames from their mouths. Wherever they went, the ground was scorched, leaving behind charred craters.
The devil beast leading the pack was enormous, standing at a staggering height of thirty meters. Three colossal horns sprouted from its head, and it wielded a massive battle axe in its hand. The blade of the axe emitted a chilling glow that set hearts racing.
Upon seeing these devil beasts before him, Jared was somewhat stunned. These creatures, neither human nor beast, neither demon nor not, had such peculiar shapes.
Seeing the situation, Vermilion Demon Lord explained to Jared, “These folks aren’t exactly pure-blooded demons, even though they carry a demonic bloodline. They are more like devil beasts, a mixed breed resulting from the affair of demons and the beast race…”
“Don’t be fooled by their unattractive appearance. They inherited the beast race’s strength and the demon’s ferocity, making them formidable adversaries.”
Upon hearing that, Jared was somewhat speechless, especially at the mention of the term “affair”
My. father is Golden Dragon from the beast race, while my mother is a bona fide member of the human race… Does that make me the offspring of an affair, then?
“Jared, what on earth are these things? They’re terrifying…” Maceo looked at the devil beasts before him, his face filled with shock.
“These are devil beasts, born from the affair of demons and beast race,” said Jared.
“Affair?” Upon hearing these two words, Maceo was taken aback.
At the mention of the word “affair”, the leader of the devil beasts was also filled with unparalleled rage.
“None of you should even dream of leaving here alive today!” The leader of the devil beasts let out a furious roar, brandishing his battle axe and lunging at Jared and Maceo with a violent slash.
Immediately, Jared pulled Maceo aside, deftly dodging the attack. The battle axe struck the ground heavily, sparking a shower of fiery glints.
“Maceo, you handle those underlings. I’ll take care of this big guy!” Jared shouted loudly.
Maceo nodded, a spear materializing in his hand. He then charged toward those smaller devil beasts.
The spear danced, its tip shimmering with a chilling gleam. Each thrust claimed the life of a devil beast. However, the number of devil beasts was overwhelming. They continuously emerged from the depths of the mine, quickly encircling Maceo.
Jared confronted the devil beast leader head-on. Dragonslayer Sword was unsheathed once again, its blade gleaming brilliantly.
“Come on!” With a loud yell, Jared took the initiative and charged toward the devil beast leader.
Dragonslayer Sword clashed with the battle axe, causing a deafening roar that could shake the heavens. The sheer force of the impact distorted the air around them.
The power of the devil beast leader was immense. Each of his attacks carried the weight of a tremendous force.
Using his agile movements, Jared continuously evaded the devil beast leader’s attacks, all while seeking an opportunity to counterattack. However, it seemed as if the devil beast leader had also recognized Jared’s threat. Its attacks became increasingly fierce, and it occasionally spewed black flames, attempting to trap Jared.
Jared’s clothes were already marred with several holes, charred by the flames. His body also bore a few burns from the fire. Nevertheless, didn’t falter in the slightest. Instead, his gaze became even more resolute.
He took a deep breath, his inner spiritual energy whirling wildly. The radiance of Dragonslayer Sword in his grasp became even more dazzfing.
“Die!” Jared let out a roar of fury, unleashing his most powerful attack.
A colossal surge of sword energy rocketed toward the sky, aimed straight at the devil beast leader.
Upon seeing the situation, the devil beast leader refused to be outdone. He swung his battle axe and released a dark gleam that clashed against the sword energy.
The two forces collided, sparking a powerful explosion. The resulting shockwave sent the surrounding devil beasts flying.
The blast wave sent Jared flying backward, crashing into a massive boulder. A trickle of fresh blood seeped from the corner of his mouth.
Just then, Maceo’s agonizing shriek echoed.
Jared turned his head, only to see Maceo under attack by several devil beasts. The latter had already been injured in multiple places, and his situation was extremely dire.
A wave of anxiety washed over Jared. Ignoring his own injuries, immediately rushed toward Maceo.
Brandishing his Dragonslayer Sword, Jared swiftly eliminated each devil beast that besieged Maceo, pulling the latter closer to his side.
“Jared, these devil beasts are too powerful. We stand no chance against them!” Maceo breathed heavily, his face a canvas of exhaustion and fear.
