Jared and Ezio had never imagined that Gordon’s sister would be so astonishingly beautiful. It was beyond their imagination.
Moreover, Gordon had once mentioned that his sister wasn’t exactly a beauty.
Therefore, they were both dumbfounded upon learning that the girl before them right then was his sister, Elena.
It had transcended their comprehension, for they had assumed that Gordon’s sister would also be of stocky and imposing build.
But in reality, she was willowy and gave off a sense of delicate vulnerability.
Ezio, especially, kept rubbing his eyes as he stared at Elena incredulously.
He still remembered mocking Gordon back when he was in prison, claiming that the latter’s sister couldn’t be as beautiful as his sister.
But with Mia standing beside Elena then, Mia was utterly ordinary.
“Why… Why are you two looking at me like that?”
Elena started feeling a bit unnerved by Jared and Ezio’s stares.
“Pretty, it never crossed our minds that you’re Elena,” Ezio hurriedly explained.
“Why, you both know me?” Elena asked with puzzlement written all over her face.
“Yes, yes, of course. I shared a cell with your brother and have heard of you long ago.”
Ezio swiftly nodded, wearing an ingratiating look on his face.
He seemingly couldn’t quite contain himself whenever he saw a beautiful woman.
Meanwhile, Mia was briefly at a loss for words to see her brother behave in such a way, not knowing what to say anymore.
“My brother is really in prison? How is he doing?”
Upon hearing that her brother was truly in prison, Elena abruptly panicked.
“Calm down. Your brother is fine, and we have a way to rescue him,” Ezio immediately reassured gently when he noticed her anxiety.
“Really? Thank you so much, then!”
At his words, Elena instantly cast a grateful look at him.
Sensing her gaze on him, Ezio noticeably straightened quite a bit.
“Did you and your brother discover a celestial crystal vein mine?” Jared asked Elena.
Following his inquiry about the vein mine, Elena went on guard at once. She scrutinized Jared, asking, “What are you talking about? There’s no celestial crystal vein mine.”
At her reticence, Jared took out the jade pendant and said, “There’s no need to be afraid. It was your brother who told us about him. He even gave me this jade pendant, saying that you’ll speak of the vein mine once you laid eyes on it. Moreover, it’s only when we’ve located the vein mine could we devise a plan to rescue your brother.”
Elena took the jade pendant from him and carefully inspected it before exclaiming, “This is Gordon’s pendant! Looks like he really does know you all. The celestial crystal vein mine isn’t here. I’ll bring you there.”
She let her guard down and subsequently brought Jared and the others in search of the celestial crystal vein mine.
In order to remain under the radar, Jared deliberately set up a cloaking formation around them that shifted as they moved.
They didn’t dare fly since being airborne would be too conspicuous and make them an easy target to spot.
Throughout the journey, Ezio kept initiating conversations with Elena every so often, ceaselessly trying to get closer to her. It seemed that he was planning to make a move on her.
After all, no man would be unmoved in the face of such a beautiful woman.
However, the more he did so, Elena’s aversion only grew. In the end, she stopped talking to him altogether.
Contrarily, Jared remained silent and reserved throughout the journey, making no deliberate attempts to get close to Elena. Yet, Elena found herself constantly drawn to him.
In particular, he was the one had her brother’s jade pendant in his possession, so she believed that he was the only person capable of rescuing her brother.
“How much farther is it?”
After they had walked for an hour, Jared turned to Elena and put that question forth.
“Not much. It’s just over the mountain up ahead,” Elena replied, pointing at a mountain a near distance away.
